Animal Awareness Clothing Line

Animals are screaming but they are not being heard. Innocent, yet prisoners, every second of every day millions of animals suffer mercilessly at the hands of ignorance and greed. Their suffering and misery is ended only at the time of their savage murder. Most people claim to be “animal lovers” but in view of the way that animals are treated by the food, entertainment, cosmetic and fashion industries, this is a ridiculous claim. Through their consumer patterns, people are condoning animals to be treated as economic commodities rather than sentient beings. In our view it is not enough for our circle of love and compassion to spread only to our pets, it should extend to all living beings. All living beings feel pain, feel joy and are capable of love; therefor compassion for our cousins should not be selective but universal. The attitude of animal consumption and exploitation is deeply ingrained; people need to make the connection between the “products” and the life that was destroyed to make them. Our hope is to encourage people to challenge these attitudes and recognise that all animals deserve love, compassion and respect. Animals are completely at the mercy of humans, in our view; it is the duty of those with an awareness of the situation to raise the debate. In the way that we now view slavery as abhorrent, future generations will undoubtedly look back at the way we have treated animals in our current world with equal disbelieve and disgust. We are not expecting instant converts, the seed of thought once planted may take years to grow in somebody, but eventually surely most people will come to see what we are talking about it. Using clothing, with digital imagery and text as our medium our hope is to stimulate thought and awareness which encourages people to challenge and question their perception and consumer patterns. To recognise that animals do not belong on our plates and in our wardrobes, they were not put here for our entertainment, to satisfy our fleeting and transitory tastes or any other frivolous human use. Animals are not commodities; they are living beings with souls and hearts. They were put here to have their own experience of the earth, relationships, triumphs and struggles; to share the world with us and alongside us. “Because the heart beats under a covering of hair, of fur, feathers or wings, it is, for that reason, to be of no account” Jean Paul
