Why is Craggs & Co Spelt Flour so special?
There are many, many reasons why our spelt is so special. Even before the seed is planted we are working hard to make sure it has a head start in life! Every single step of our harvesting process can be traced. It is very rare to find spelt wheat and flour that has been grown, harvested, milled and stored in the UK. Most are imported via the EU with little or no understanding of where the wheat originated. Craggs & Co are extremely proud of the fact that every single grain of spelt wheat that goes into our flour has been lovingly produced in the beautiful North East of England.
Other than the fact that spelt tastes great, there are a huge number of reasons why you should look to have spelt wheat as an alternative to traditional wheat. Spelt can be used very much in the same way as traditional wheat. You can make all of the usual cakes, breads, muffins, pies etc. with spelt flour but by making that one simple change in your diet you could improve your health. The health benefits of spelt are really quite staggering, it’s a gentle food for the digestive tract and a powerful agent to strengthen your immune and nerves system. It’s easy to see why spelt is becoming increasing popular as a tasty health food. Here’s just a few reasons why you should choose our lovely, delicious spelt flour.
